Wind River General Purpose Platform, VxWorks Edition 3.8 Evaluation with SMP
This live DVD evaluation of Wind River General Purpose Platform, VxWorks Edition 3.8 with SMP is an ISO image download that you can burn to DVD and run on your host system without permanently installing any software. A tutorial provides a guided experience. This evaluation allows you to try out General Purpose Platform in the VxWorks symmetric multiprocessing (SMP) configuration, using the VxWorks Simulator.
General Purpose Platform
Wind River General Purpose Platform, VxWorks Edition provides a solid foundation for a broad variety of devices, from aerospace and defense applications to networking and consumer electronics gear, robotics and industrial applications, precision medical instruments, and automobile navigation and telematics systems. The platform is ideally suited for devices requiring a highly scalable, hard real-time, deterministic run-time environment.
VxWorks Run-Time
General Purpose Platform is built on the industry-leading real-time operating system (RTOS), VxWorks 6.8, and includes integrated networking and run-time technologies. The latest edition of VxWorks is backward-compatible with earlier versions, allowing customers to leverage existing and legacy software assets. This evaluation also includes VxWorks Simulator (which allows use of the platform without having to connect to a target device), Wind River Compiler, and Wind River GCC Compiler.
Symmetric Multiprocessing
VxWorks 6.8 offers support for SMP and asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP) for multicore processors as part of the VxWorks platforms. VxWorks 6.8 SMP allows the operating system to use multiple processors on a single system. At the same time, the add-on maintains the same key RTOS characteristics of performance, small footprint, high reliability, and determinism as does the uniprocessor configuration of VxWorks. This evaluation includes VxWorks configured to run in SMP mode. A separate evaluation is available for the AMP configuration and the uniprocessor configuration.
Wind River Workbench
This evaluation version of General Purpose Platform includes Wind River Workbench 3.2, our integrated, Eclipse-based development suite. Workbench offers broad capabilities that support the entire development life cycle, from hardware bring-up to platform and application development, enabling standardization on one common environment across the enterprise.
Run-Time Analysis Tools
Six run-time analysis tools (previously known as the Wind River ScopeTools suite) provide powerful SMP debugging as well as dynamic visualization tools for device software applications for both unicore and multicore environments . They provide developers with visibility into the entire platform: application code, third-party libraries, and the operating system. You can monitor variables, optimize performance, and find memory problems, all while the system is still running.
